Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, conducted a series of field visits to major hospitals and leading healthcare companies in China, as part of his participation in the 91st China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) held in Shanghai in April.
These visits fall within EHA’s broader strategy to enhance international cooperation and exchange experiences with global healthcare leaders, aiming to improve the quality of healthcare services delivered to Egyptian citizens and support the sustainable development of Egypt’s healthcare system.
During the visit, Dr. El-Sobky toured Renji Hospital, Wondfo Hospital, and Zhongshan Hospital, three of China’s most prominent healthcare institutions.
Renji Hospital is renowned for treating rare and complex diseases and performing highly specialized gastrointestinal interventions.
At Wondfo Hospital, discussions focused on chronic disease management and advanced diagnostics.
The visit to Zhongshan Hospital addressed potential collaboration in establishing Centers of Excellence for cardiology, oncology, and liver transplantation.
In addition, Dr. El-Sobky visited EVYD TECHNOLOGY, a leading company specializing in digital healthcare solutions driven by artificial intelligence. He explored the company’s innovative approaches using big data analytics and predictive technologies to enhance healthcare quality and patient experience.
He also toured United Imaging Healthcare, a global leader in medical imaging devices, where he reviewed the latest advancements in CT scanning, MRI technology, and their critical role in enhancing diagnostic precision.
These engagements align with EHA’s strategic objectives to promote digital transformation within Egypt’s healthcare sector and foster cooperation in medical technology innovation, thereby offering more advanced and efficient healthcare services.
Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that collaboration with world-class hospitals and companies is a cornerstone for the development of Egypt’s healthcare system. He noted that exchanging expertise and staying abreast of the latest scientific and medical advancements is key to driving a qualitative leap in service delivery and aligning Egypt’s healthcare offerings with global standards.
He added that these visits pave the way for fruitful partnerships with leading international medical institutions and enhance the Egyptian healthcare sector’s capacity to adapt to current and future innovations.

The CMEF exhibition also showcased groundbreaking technological solutions and innovations, particularly in artificial intelligence, robotic surgery, laboratory diagnostics, and digital healthcare, empowering healthcare institutions worldwide to offer more advanced and precise medical services. With the participation of over 5,000 international brands, the exhibition provided a critical platform for strengthening cooperation between leading Chinese companies and their global counterparts.
