Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, met with senior executives from Mindray, including Mr. Kevin Xu, Vice President and General Manager of International Marketing and Sales, Mr. Jeff Guo, Regional General Manager for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, and Mr. Eric Li, General Manager for Egypt and North Africa. The meeting took place on the sidelines of his participation in the 91st China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF 2025), held in Shanghai this April.

The discussions focused on exploring avenues for collaboration in digital transformation, artificial intelligence applications in healthcare, technology transfer, and local manufacturing tailored to Egypt’s market needs, in coordination with the Egyptian Drug Authority and the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority. They also discussed capacity building through specialized training programs.

Dr. El-Sobky emphasized the importance of collaborating with major global companies such as Mindray to localize advanced medical technologies in Egypt. He highlighted that the Authority aims to leverage these technologies to enhance healthcare services and continuously improve the efficiency of healthcare facilities across the governorates where the Universal Health Insurance System is being implemented.

He announced that EHA is targeting the transformation of the Suez Medical Complex into Egypt’s first fully smart hospital, in cooperation with Mindray and Huawei, aiming to elevate the efficiency and quality of healthcare services.

Furthermore, Dr. El-Sobky shared that discussions are underway to establish a Training and Capacity Building Academy for advanced medical technologies in collaboration with Mindray, aimed at training medical and technical staff across EHA facilities to proficiently use the latest technologies in healthcare delivery.

He stressed that Mindray has been selected as a strategic partner for EHA’s smart transformation initiatives, owing to its global leadership in smart healthcare solutions — aligning with EHA’s ongoing objectives to develop and continuously upgrade the healthcare system in Egypt.

From their side, Mindray’s leadership expressed their pride in cooperating with EHA, affirming that this collaboration will significantly contribute to delivering smart solutions that drive a transformational leap in Egypt’s healthcare sector. They praised the Authority’s commitment to adopting state-of-the-art medical technologies and lauded its efforts to stay aligned with global healthcare advancements.

It’s noteworthy that Dr. El-Sobky’s visit to China forms part of a comprehensive agenda that includes field visits, meetings, and international engagements aimed at learning about the latest technological innovations in the medical field and strengthening EHA’s position as a leader in adopting advanced healthcare models and integrating successful global practices to enhance the quality of life for Egyptian citizens.

The CMEF exhibition is recognized as a prestigious global platform showcasing the latest innovations and medical technologies. The event attracts visitors from over 150 countries and features participation from more than 5,000 international brands, offering vital opportunities to strengthen collaboration between major Chinese and global healthcare companies.
