Chairman of the Healthcare Authority: "We Care for You in Egypt" Medical Tourism Project Attracts Patients from Over 50 Countries

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, emphasized that the Authority is steadily positioning Egypt as a leading global destination for medical tourism. This vision is being realized under the ambitious "We Care for You in Egypt" initiative, a unique healthcare brand that underscores Egypt’s commitment to providing world-class, comprehensive medical services.

Dr. El-Sobky revealed that the initiative has made remarkable progress in 2024, with Healthcare Authority facilities receiving over 12,000 international patients from 50 countries. This represents a 200% increase compared to 2023 and a fivefold growth compared to 2022. He stated that these figures highlight the growing trust in the quality of medical services provided by the Authority, positioning Egypt as a preferred destination for medical tourism while supporting the national economy in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The "We Care for You in Egypt" project aims to place Egypt prominently on the global map of medical tourism. The initiative's strategic objectives include establishing Egypt as a world-class provider of high-quality healthcare services to patients of all nationalities, generating sustainable economic returns by attracting foreign currencies through competitive medical packages tailored to international patients, and fostering partnerships with other nations to exchange medical expertise. Additionally, the project leverages modern technology to streamline medical procedures and actively participates in international events to showcase Egypt's global standing in medical tourism.

Dr. El-Sobky noted that the Authority’s vision prioritizes achieving the highest satisfaction levels for beneficiaries by optimizing available resources and maintaining the quality of medical services without imposing additional financial burdens. "We are committed to placing our hospitals on the global medical tourism map by enhancing operational efficiency and building an integrated medical network that ensures an effective referral system for patients," he added.

The medical tourism project operates on six key pillars to ensure innovative and comprehensive service delivery. The first pillar focuses on optimizing hospital operations and achieving international accreditation. Milestones include the accreditation of Sharm El Sheikh International Hospital and Ismailia Medical Complex by the Joint Commission International (JCI), with dedicated pathways for serving international patients. The second pillar emphasizes innovative healthcare marketing, involving the creation of competitively priced medical packages and digital promotion via social media and specialized global platforms for medical tourism.

The third pillar centers on establishing an integrated medical network comprising global health insurance companies, medical tourism agencies, and private hospitals, offering diverse options that meet the needs of international patients. The fourth pillar involves ongoing evaluation and monitoring of services to measure international patient satisfaction, ensure competitive pricing, and uphold high-quality standards.

Dr. El-Sobky highlighted that the project aims to generate sustainable economic returns by attracting foreign currencies while actively participating in international medical tourism events to enhance Egypt’s global presence. He concluded that the "We Care for You in Egypt" initiative embodies the Egyptian government’s vision to promote medical tourism, attract foreign investments, and contribute to sustainable development.

This groundbreaking project reflects Egypt’s commitment to combining healthcare excellence with economic growth, making it a model for sustainable development and global competitiveness in medical tourism.
