EHA Chairman Meets Turkish "Modest Group" on Mental Health and Addiction Treatment

Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority chairs a high-level meeting with the Turkish "Modest Group," specialized in managing mental health hospitals and addiction treatment centers

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, chaired a high-level meeting with a delegation from the Turkish Modest Group, specialized in managing mental health hospitals and addiction treatment centers, to discuss opportunities for collaboration and explore strategic partnership prospects between the two sides.

The Modest Group was represented by Dr. Niyazi Yesilova, Vice President of the Group, and Dr. Mohamed Hahssan, Specialist in International Patient Affairs.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky explained that the meeting discussed cooperation with Modest Group to transfer their expertise in managing and operating the mental health hospital planned to be affiliated with the Authority, with an initial capacity of 100 beds, expandable to 250 beds. The aim is to benefit from Modest’s position as one of the world’s leading institutions in the management and operation of mental health and addiction treatment hospitals.

The meeting also addressed the potential signing of a cooperation agreement to exchange expertise and develop medical and administrative competencies in several areas, most notably psychological rehabilitation services, health counseling, and community awareness programs.

He noted that discussions covered ways to leverage Modest Group's expertise in operating and managing the Authority’s mental health hospital in Port Said, with the goal of establishing it as an integrated regional center of excellence (HUB) for mental health services, specializing in psychological diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, especially post-major surgeries.

In line with promoting medical tourism, the meeting also explored opportunities to integrate mental health services into comprehensive treatment pathways for international patients, capitalizing on Egypt’s position as a promising tourism and medical destination, attracting more than 20 million tourists annually, and utilizing Modest Group’s experience in marketing medical tourism services.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed establishing a digital platform to support Tele-Psychiatry services in collaboration with Modest Group.

For his part, Dr. Niyazi Yesilova, Vice President of Modest Group, expressed his delight at the potential cooperation with the Healthcare Authority, considering it a strategic step towards enhancing scientific and professional exchange in the field of mental health.

Dr. Yesilova highlighted that Modest Group possesses extensive experience in the operation and management of mental health hospitals according to the latest international standards. He expressed the group's readiness to provide technical and operational support to Port Said Mental Health Hospital, aiming to transform it into a distinguished regional center for mental health diagnosis and treatment. He affirmed Modest’s commitment to transferring expertise in Tele-Psychiatry, psychological rehabilitation, and scientific research to enhance the quality of mental health care in Egypt, noting that Egypt has all the necessary capabilities to become a leading regional destination in this field.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Egypt Healthcare Authority, including Dr. Hany Rashed, Vice Chairman of the Authority, Dr. Ahmed Hanafy, Advisor to the Chairman for Clinical Excellence, Dr. Mostafa Shaaban, Head of the Central Administration for Healthcare and Therapeutic Services, Dr. Asmaa Salman, Director General of the Marketing and Business Development Administration, Dr. Mahmoud El-Deeb, Director General of the Strategic Administration, and Dr. Reham Salama, Director General of the Communication and International Cooperation Administration. Also present were Ms. Noran Kotb, Dr. Gloria Samah, Dr. Amnia Abdel-Gawad, members of the Chairman’s Technical Office, and Mr. Ahmed Galal, Director of the Documentation and Publishing Unit.
