Egypt Healthcare Authority Announces the Opening of the Neonatal Unit at Karnak International Hospital in Luxor
The Egypt Healthcare Authority has announced the inauguration of the neonatal unit at Karnak International Hospital, one of the Authority’s facilities in Luxor Governorate, the first governorate in Upper Egypt to implement the Universal Health Insurance system. This milestone marks a significant step in enhancing neonatal healthcare services in the region.
The newly opened unit is equipped with 10 state-of-the-art incubators, including 7 ventilators, significantly boosting the healthcare capacity in Luxor. This development increases the total number of incubators in the governorate from 85 to 95, offering advanced medical care for newborns and aligning with the Authority’s commitment to meeting citizens’ needs in accordance with global quality standards.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, expressed pride in this achievement, describing the new unit as a qualitative leap in healthcare services provided in Luxor Governorate.
“The opening of the neonatal unit at Karnak International Hospital reflects the Authority’s commitment to delivering healthcare services that meet world-class standards, ensuring a safe and well-equipped environment for the care of newborns,” Dr. El-Sobky stated. He added that the unit is staffed with a specialized team of doctors and nurses dedicated to providing the highest levels of care.
Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that this accomplishment is part of the Authority’s broader strategy to enhance healthcare infrastructure and expand medical services for citizens. These efforts contribute to achieving healthcare sustainability and improving Egypt’s overall health indicators.
