Egypt Healthcare Authority: We Have Achieved Significant Milestones in Neonatal Care in the Governorates of the Universal Health Insurance System

President of the Egypt Healthcare Authority: 358 neonatal care units in healthcare facilities across 6 governorates in the first phase of the Universal Health Insurance System, with 22 additional units being added.

President of the Egypt Healthcare Authority: More than 25,000 clinical services provided to premature infants in neonatal units across the Universal Health Insurance System's governorates.

President of the Egypt Healthcare Authority: The recovery rate of premature infants, including critical cases, exceeded 96%, with the implementation of standardized clinical protocols for the first time.

President of the Egypt Healthcare Authority: 19 healthcare facilities provide neonatal care services, a 54% increase compared to the period before the implementation of the Egypt Healthcare Authority system.

President of the Egypt Healthcare Authority: Over 20 clinical services are provided by neonatal units, including "emergency care," "treatment for jaundice," and "post-surgical follow-ups, infections, and pediatric cardiology."

President of the Egypt Healthcare Authority: Neonatal units are equipped with the latest ventilators and intensive care units, staffed by highly trained medical and nursing personnel.


Dr. Ahmed Al-Subki, President of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance System project, confirmed that the Authority provides 358 neonatal care units in its healthcare facilities across the governorates of the first phase of the Universal Health Insurance System, which include: Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, Luxor, South Sinai, and Aswan.

Dr. Al-Subki also mentioned that 22 new neonatal care units are being added at the Karnak International Hospital in Luxor and the Al-Qassasin Specialized Hospital in Ismailia.

He explained that the neonatal care units in the Authority's healthcare facilities have provided over 25,000 clinical services to premature infants in the Universal Health Insurance System’s governorates. These services are offered in line with the latest global medical standards to ensure the safety and health of infants.

Dr. Al-Subki further noted that the recovery rate for premature infants in the Authority's neonatal units, including critical cases, exceeded 96%. He emphasized that unified clinical protocols have been implemented for the first time in the Universal Health Insurance System’s governorates, which contributes to improving the quality of the medical services provided.

He pointed out that the neonatal units provide more than 20 integrated clinical services for the care of newborns and premature infants, including emergency care, jaundice treatment, post-surgical follow-ups, treatment for infections and inflammations, as well as pediatric cardiology.

Dr. Al-Subki also confirmed that the neonatal units are equipped with the latest ventilators and intensive care units for newborns, staffed by highly qualified medical and nursing teams, ensuring the provision of advanced and comprehensive medical services for children requiring intensive care.

He concluded by emphasizing that the Authority's efforts to develop neonatal care services are part of its strategy to provide integrated and comprehensive healthcare for all Egyptian families, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 goals to achieve universal health coverage and sustainable development.
