The Chief of the Egypt Health Care Authority: The Technical Nursing Care Institutes are achieving a qualitative leap in nursing education in the governorates with universal health insurance.

Chief of the Egypt Health Care Authority: We have 12 technical nursing institutes operating on a five-year system in 5 governorates; three in Port Said, five in Luxor, two in Ismailia, one in South Sinai, and one in Suez.

Chief of the Egypt Health Care Authority: The curricula of the Technical Nursing Care Institutes are being developed in collaboration with the Italian project, the University of Sassari, and the Ministry of Health, with training for educators in Italy to transfer expertise to the Care Institutes at the level of the Authority's branches.

Chief of the Egypt Health Care Authority: The latest teaching and training methods, such as "Tutorship and Mentorship", are applied at the Technical Nursing Care Institutes to develop students, improve their performance, and enhance their confidence and professional readiness.

The Supervisor General of the Nursing System at the Authority and the Nursing Syndicate Member of the Senate: The Technical Nursing Care Institutes adopt precise standards for selecting the best elements, including selecting the highest aggregates from applicants and implementing the "Portfolio" for student and teacher performance evaluation, updating the "Log Book", and designing a new one to ensure the compatibility of materials with the latest nursing standards and practices.

The Supervisor General of the Nursing System at the Authority and the Nursing Syndicate Member of the Senate: The Technical Nursing Care Institutes qualify nursing students scientifically and practically with an advanced scientific and research curriculum through a qualified team using the latest technologies to graduate distinguished and safe nursing staff.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chief of the Egypt Health Care Authority and Supervisor General of the Universal Health Insurance and Hayat Karema projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, announced the continued progress of the Authority in the field of nursing education through the Technical Nursing Care Institutes. He noted that these institutes are achieving a qualitative leap in the quality of education provided in the governorates where the universal health insurance system is applied.

Dr. El-Sobky mentioned that the Authority owns 12 technical nursing institutes on a five-year system in five governorates, including three in Port Said (El-Mabarra, El-Salam, and Hayat Port Fouad), five in Luxor (Karnak International, Luxor International Medical Complex, Isis Specialized, Horus Specialized, and Taiba Specialized), two in Ismailia (Ismailia Medical Complex and Fayed Specialized), one in South Sinai (El-Fayrouz Medical), and one in Suez (Medical Complex Houss Dros).

He added, "We are working on developing the curricula of the Technical Nursing Care Institutes in collaboration with the Italian project, the University of Sassari, and the Ministry of Health and Population. A distinguished group of educators are sent to the University of Sassari in Italy for training in clinical practical training and communication skills, and the experience is transferred to the Care Institutes at the level of the Authority's branches, enhancing the quality of education and training."

He noted that the Authority applies the latest teaching and training methods through the "Tutorship and Mentorship" system at the Technical Nursing Care Institutes, which contributes to guiding and developing students, improving academic performance, enhancing self-confidence and personal skills, enhancing professional readiness, providing a supportive educational environment, and benefiting from practical experiences.

Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that the goal is to graduate nursing staff with distinguished technical, technological, and linguistic skills, enabling them to provide effective nursing services in the Authority's facilities, meet community needs, and compete in the local and regional job market.

Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud, the Supervisor General of the Nursing System at the Egypt Health Care Authority, Nursing Syndicate Member of the Senate, confirmed that the Technical Nursing Care Institutes adopt precise standards for selecting students, including achieving the highest scores, implementing qualifications tests for entering the medical examination, and introducing a psychometric test for new students to assess their adaptability and interaction with the educational environment. She added that the institutes improve English language skills among students through a certified course available in all governorates.

She explained that the institutes apply the "Portfolio Of Teacher & Student" system to document and comprehensively assess performance, helping to monitor the development of skills and knowledge and improve educational performance. She continued that the Log Book for nursing procedures for the first three years has been updated, and a new Log Book for the fourth and fifth years and internship students has been designed and approved for training across all the Technical Nursing Care Institutes, ensuring the educational materials align with the latest nursing standards and practices, and enhancing clinical efficiency and practical readiness.

She noted that a comprehensive and varied booklet of questions for all subjects has been prepared to standardize it in periodic and end-of-year exams, contributing to fair and consistent student assessment, improving the quality of education and evaluation in the institutes. She also mentioned forming a mobile team to train staff at the institutes on setting educational objectives, modern teaching methods, evaluation and assessment, personal skills, curriculum planning, practical training, preparing exam papers, communication skills, and classroom management.

Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud added that training courses for faculty at the institutes have been organized through the Technical Education Team at the Authority's headquarters and the mobile team at the institutes, covering modern teaching methods, practical training, and team building, in addition to a preparation program for newly joined institutes to ensure their compliance with the policies of the Egypt Health Care Authority.

She explained that the institutes adopt a five-year study with six months of mandatory training to obtain a technical health diploma in general nursing. The study plan includes cultural and scientific technical subjects such as nursing fundamentals, community health, child nursing, women and maternity, internal and surgical nursing, therapeutic nutrition, and psychiatric nursing, etc.

She mentioned that uniforms for directors and students have been standardized across the governorates with universal health insurance, along with the standardization of administrative records and files. She added that the institutes enhance the scientific and practical qualification of students using an advanced and research-based curriculum through a qualified team using the latest technologies to graduate distinguished and safe nursing staff, and support personal development, talent discovery, and social participation through community activities. The institutes won the Excellence Award at the Egyptian Nursing Syndicate's 2024 celebration.
