Driving Healthcare Transformation: Egypt Authority Partners with Alvarez & Marsal

As a Key Outcome of Arab Health 2025 Participation in Dubai

Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority Explores Strategic Collaboration with Alvarez & Marsal to Advance Operations, Digital Transformation, and Financial Sustainability in Healthcare

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, met with Ms. Marija Simovic, Managing Director and Head of Healthcare – EMEA at Alvarez & Marsal, one of the world’s leading advisory firms.

This strategic meeting followed EHA’s participation in Arab Health 2025 in Dubai, where both parties discussed deepening cooperation in areas such as hospital operations, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, financial efficiency, and sustainability.

Towards a Model of Excellence in Hospital Operations

Dr. El-Sobky emphasized the Authority’s goal to sign a tripartite agreement with Alvarez & Marsal, supported by the World Bank, aimed at assessing healthcare facilities across the first phase governorates of the Universal Health Insurance System. The objective is to develop an ideal, globally benchmarked model to be replicated across all regions.

He noted that EHA seeks to capitalize on Alvarez & Marsal’s extensive global expertise to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen financial sustainability, and ultimately transfer this successful model to peer countries in the Arab and African regions, reinforcing Egypt’s leadership in healthcare systems development.

He added that this collaboration aligns with the Authority’s strategic vision to deliver world-class healthcare services, improve governance, and deploy advanced technologies and AI-based solutions to ensure service quality and continuity.

Alvarez & Marsal: Bringing NHS-Inspired Expertise to Egypt

Ms. Marija Simovic expressed her pride in cooperating with EHA, highlighting that Alvarez & Marsal has supported over 240 healthcare institutions in more than 40 countries, particularly through a model inspired by the UK's NHS, which could serve as a valuable blueprint for Egypt’s health system transformation.

She described Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance Project as a promising model, emphasizing that a successful collaboration with EHA would create a strategic entry point into the African healthcare market, while expanding Alvarez & Marsal’s international partnerships.
