The Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority met with the new Chair of the International Steering Committee for Partnerships for Universal Health Coverage (UHC2030).

The Chair of the UHC2030 Committee commended the achievements in Egypt's universal health coverage efforts and valued the Egyptian government's resolve to continue the efforts by launching the second phase of the project despite various regional challenges.

The Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority participated in the announcement of the global strategy towards achieving universal health coverage and the upcoming international agenda until the year 2027.

The Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority also participated in the preparatory expert meeting for the 77th World Health Assembly scheduled to be held in Geneva this upcoming May, to discuss draft resolutions on universal health coverage that are intended to be presented on the UN agenda.

The Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority presented a proposal to include the Arab League as a regional organization involved in formulating international policies to enhance universal health coverage by 2030, following the example of the European Union, the African Union, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The Chief emphasized the importance of directing the global strategy to support the neediest groups in Africa and empower women in healthcare, as well as to develop new self-assessment tools for each country to update the indicators of universal health coverage. This includes focusing on political commitment and governance of health systems, updating national health accounts, payment mechanisms, and disease maps for each country.

Finally, the Chief confirmed Egypt's ongoing efforts to provide the maximum possible healthcare to the brethren in Gaza, as well as to those hosted in Egypt from Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, as part of Egypt's regional role in enhancing universal health coverage for everyone, following the directives of the Egyptian political leadership.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and Supervisor General of the Universal Health Insurance and Decent Life projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, met with Dr. Magda Robalo, the newly elected Chair of the International Steering Committee for Health Partnerships for Universal Health Coverage (UHC2030), during his visit to Switzerland for the meetings of the International Steering Committee for Health Partnerships in Geneva.

During the meeting, Dr. Magda Robalo expressed her appreciation for the accomplishments achieved in Egypt in the area of universal health coverage and praised the Egyptian government's determination to continue its efforts by initiating the second phase of the universal health insurance project despite various regional challenges.

In the same context, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, participated in the declaration of the global strategy towards achieving universal health coverage and the upcoming international work agenda until 2027. The discussions covered the plans and future directions for enhancing universal health coverage globally.

Dr. El-Sobky also took part in the preparatory expert meeting for the 77th World Health Assembly, which is scheduled to take place in Geneva next May. The meeting focused on discussing draft resolutions on universal health coverage that are slated to be introduced to the UN agenda, aiming to enhance universal health coverage and improve health services for all.

Dr. El-Sobky mentioned that he had proposed adding the Arab League as a regional organization involved in formulating international policies to promote universal health coverage by 2030, similar to the European Union, African Union, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

This is part of Egypt's regional role in promoting universal health coverage for all, following the directives of the Egyptian political leadership.

Dr. El-Sobky concluded by affirming the ongoing efforts of the Egypt Healthcare Authority to enhance universal health coverage and improve health services for the citizens of Egypt. He stated that working in cooperation with international partners aims to achieve shared goals in providing high-quality and accessible healthcare for all, emphasizing that joint efforts accelerate progress towards achieving universal health coverage and ensuring the establishment of equitable and resilient health systems, laying the groundwork for achieving global health security.
