Chairman of the Healthcare Authority: Psychological Counseling Clinics Introduced in 235 Health Facilities During the Same Period, Enhancing Comprehensive Healthcare and Ensuring Improved Health Quality for Citizens in Comprehensive Health Insurance Provinces
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority and Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, announced the quarterly report on newly introduced services for the Healthcare Authority in Universal Health Insurance Provinces, covering the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2024/2025.
The Chairman of the Healthcare Authority stated that the Authority successfully provided services to more than 870.6 thousand beneficiaries in the provinces implementing comprehensive insurance: "Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Aswan, Suez" during Q1 of the current fiscal year.
He noted that Suez province had the largest share of total beneficiaries during this period, with 245,000 beneficiaries. It was followed by Luxor province, which had 219,000 beneficiaries, then Port Said with 211,000 beneficiaries. Ismailia recorded over 158,000 beneficiaries, South Sinai 21.7 thousand beneficiaries, and Aswan had 15.6 thousand beneficiaries.
The Chairman of the Healthcare Authority highlighted the total number of medical and treatment services provided during Q1 of FY 2024/2025, which reached around 3 million services. These services included a wide range of medical and treatment packages at all levels of care, whether primary care in family medicine units and centers, or secondary and tertiary care provided in the Authority's hospitals in the six provinces, all according to global quality standards and the latest international practices.
In the context of continuous improvement of health services, the Chairman pointed out that 495 new medical services were introduced, along with the inauguration and operation of over 35 new treatment departments in the Authority's facilities during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, contributing to expanding the range of medical services available to citizens and enhancing the Authority's capacity to meet their needs and demands.
He added: During the same period, psychological counseling clinics were introduced in 235 health facilities affiliated with the Authority, 226 in family medicine units and centers, and 9 in hospitals. This aims to provide psychological support and counseling to citizens as part of comprehensive healthcare services. This step is part of the Authority's commitment to providing integrated healthcare, ensuring improved health quality for citizens in Comprehensive Health Insurance Provinces. Around 42,000 beneficiaries have benefited from these clinics.
The Chairman also mentioned that during Q1 of the current fiscal year, 336 specialized clinics were opened in 56 Family Medicine Centers in the six provinces implementing the Comprehensive Health Insurance System. These clinics cover specialties such as obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, pediatrics, dermatology, ophthalmology, in addition to the Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) program, accredited by the World Health Organization to help the medical team diagnose, classify, and treat the five main diseases causing high mortality rates among children under five years of age. Over 237,000 beneficiaries received services from these specialized clinics.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky emphasized the Authority's commitment to continuing efforts to develop and enhance health capabilities in Comprehensive Health Insurance Provinces. He noted that expanding the provision of high-quality health services is a key pillar in achieving the Authority's strategic objectives of improving citizens' quality of life.
