Healthcare Authority Chairman Meets with the Head of the Pharmaceuticals Division and Servier France Delegation to Discuss Cooperation and Investment Opportunities in Healthcare
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, met with Dr. Ali Ouf, Head of the Pharmaceuticals Division at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, and Dr. Sami Sanqrat, General Manager of Servier France, along with senior representatives from the company. The meeting took place at the Authority's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to explore avenues for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and investment in healthcare.
Dr. El-Sobky welcomed the attendees and was briefed on Servier's extensive achievements in the production of medications for oncology, cardiology, and diabetes. The delegation highlighted the company’s expanding investments in Egypt, focusing on local pharmaceutical manufacturing, product development, technology transfer, and enhancing the quality of local production. They also outlined plans to upgrade Servier’s factory in Egypt to increase its production capacity and meet the growing needs of the local market while adhering to the highest quality standards.
The meeting addressed strategies to strengthen cooperation between the Healthcare Authority and Servier. Dr. El-Sobky emphasized the importance of training medical staff across the Authority's facilities in the latest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes. A proposal was also discussed to launch a Continuous Medical Education (CME) platform under a strategic partnership aimed at advancing healthcare services in the governorates covered by the Universal Health Insurance Project.
Furthermore, the discussions explored the integration of advanced technologies for cancer treatment and the facilitation of training missions for Egyptian doctors in France. The dialogue also included training programs for the Authority's researchers in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship, and market analysis, contributing to the development of human resources in various specialties.
Dr. El-Sobky reaffirmed the Healthcare Authority's commitment to enhancing healthcare quality and improving services for citizens. He stressed that collaboration with Servier represents a significant step toward achieving these goals by facilitating the transfer of advanced expertise and technologies. This partnership will play a pivotal role in elevating the standard of healthcare across the governorates implementing the Universal Health Insurance Project, which will extend nationwide by 2030.
On behalf of Servier, Dr. Sami Sanqrat expressed enthusiasm for the partnership and outlined opportunities to strengthen mutual collaboration and expertise exchange. He also extended an invitation to Dr. El-Sobky to attend Servier’s platinum jubilee celebration, marking 70 years of global operations, over 50 years in Africa, and 30 years of pharmaceutical manufacturing in Egypt.
Dr. El-Sobky reiterated that Egypt represents a vast and promising market for healthcare investment, emphasizing the importance of fostering partnerships between the public and private sectors to achieve sustainable development in alignment with Egypt's Vision 2030. He further highlighted Egypt’s emergence as a gateway to Africa and the Middle East, underscoring its potential to lead the future of healthcare in the region.
