Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobki, Chairman of the Authority, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Orchidia Pharmaceutical Industries to launch an integrated training program in ophthalmology specialties in the Authority's hospitals in the comprehensive health insurance governorates.
The memorandum was signed by Dr. Amir Al-Talwani, Executive Director of the General Authority for Healthcare, representing the Authority, and Dr. Karim Osama Abbas, Member of the Board of Directors of Orchidia, representing the company, in the presence of a number of executive leaders from both sides, reflecting the keenness of both parties to support the development of medical competencies and enhance innovation in Egypt.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky stressed that cooperation with Orchidia Company focuses on establishing an integrated system for continuing medical education in the specialties of ophthalmology, noting that the training program will include on-the-job training, in addition to introducing the latest and most accurate surgical techniques in the field of ophthalmology, with the assistance of professors, consultants and experts to raise the efficiency of medical personnel and localize expertise at the level of all governorates.
He added that this partnership represents a qualitative step in the Authority's strategy to build human capabilities and develop doctors' skills scientifically and practically, which contributes to the continuous development of the level of health services provided to patients and consolidates the principles of quality and excellence within the framework of the comprehensive health insurance system.
For his part, Dr. Osama Abbas, CEO of Orchidia, praised the cooperation with the Authority, stressing that the company is committed to supporting community awareness projects for ophthalmic diseases and enhancing continuing medical education programs, which will be reflected in raising the efficiency of doctors and the quality of health services in the Authority's hospitals, noting that Orchidia will put all its expertise and capabilities to ensure the success of the training program and achieve its goals.
Under the MoU, the two parties agreed to launch an integrated training program entitled "Step by Step," which includes theoretical and practical workshops covering the main specialties in ophthalmology, including eye emergencies and injuries, corneal diseases, uveitis, cataract surgeries, strabismus, pediatric ophthalmology, and glaucoma, ensuring that doctors are provided with the latest scientific knowledge and applied skills to raise the quality of services provided to patients.
The signing ceremony was attended by the General Authority for Health Care: Dr. Mahmoud El-Deeb, Assistant Executive Director for Health Planning and Mapping Affairs and Director General of the Technical Office of the Chairman of the Authority; Dr. Heba Awida, Director General of the General Administration of Research and Development; and Dr. Mohamed Ayoub, Supervisor of Business Partnerships in the Office of the Executive Director of the Authority.
On the Orchidia side, Dr. Osama Abbas, CEO of the company; Dr. Shaima Sabry, Director of the Scientific Office; and Dr. Ahmed Saleh, Brand Director, attended.
This cooperation comes within the framework of the Authority continuing its efforts to support continuing medical education and strengthen partnerships with leading companies, which contributes to developing the health care system and raising the level of medical services provided to citizens.
