Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, visited the Huawei Research and Innovation Center to explore the latest technological solutions and the development of integrated smart systems in the healthcare sector. The visit took place on the sidelines of his participation in the 91st edition of the China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF 2025) in Shanghai, China.
During the visit, Dr. El-Sobky discussed with senior executives from Huawei the avenues for joint cooperation in research, development, and the innovation of modern technological applications that would enhance the technological infrastructure of EHA-affiliated healthcare facilities, aligning with Egypt’s national strategy for digital transformation and healthcare sector development.
Dr. El-Sobky confirmed that an agreement was reached to launch a joint research platform with Huawei to study the application of Internet of Things (IoT) models within the healthcare sector. Additionally, the partnership will focus on developing integrated technological solutions for linking large healthcare databases, aiming to improve the quality of healthcare services provided to Egyptian citizens.
He further stated that EHA is targeting the transformation of the Suez Medical Complex, affiliated with the Authority in Suez Governorate, into a leading model of a “smart hospital” in partnership with Huawei — a move that reflects EHA’s commitment to adopting the latest global technologies in the management and operation of healthcare facilities.
On his part, Dr. Felix Xu, CEO of Huawei Egypt's Enterprise Business Group, expressed his strong enthusiasm for collaboration with the Egypt Healthcare Authority, affirming Huawei’s full readiness to support EHA’s projects in research, innovation, digital infrastructure development, and the launch of advanced technological applications that contribute to a qualitative leap in healthcare delivery in Egypt.
Dr. El-Sobky was accompanied during the visit by Dr. Amir El-Telwany, Executive Director of the Egypt Healthcare Authority.
It is worth noting that CMEF 2025 is a prestigious global platform that showcases the latest innovations and medical technologies. The event witnessed the participation of over 5,000 international brands from more than 150 countries, providing a space for exhibiting and exchanging cutting-edge solutions and trends in fields such as artificial intelligence, robotic surgery, laboratory diagnostics, digital healthcare, and technologies supporting healthcare infrastructure.
