Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority Announces the Opening of a Chemotherapy Department for Oncology at Suez Medical Complex

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project announced the inauguration of the chemotherapy department for oncology at the Suez Medical Complex, one of the facilities affiliated with the Authority in Suez Governorate, a first-phase governorate under the Universal Health Insurance system.

Dr. El-Sobky highlighted that the establishment and equipping of the oncology treatment unit at the Suez Medical Complex cost over EGP 7 million. The unit provides four core services: chemotherapy, biological therapy, treatment for multiple sclerosis, and outpatient clinics, ensuring that patients' needs are met with the highest quality standards.

He noted that the unit currently serves more than 400 patients, with an average of 45 cases per day visiting the oncology clinic. To date, the unit has provided over 250 services, including consultations at outpatient clinics and chemotherapy sessions.

The unit is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and staffed by a distinguished team of medical, administrative, and technical professionals. This includes 17 staff members, comprising a head of department, specialist oncologists, pharmacists, nursing supervisors, a comprehensive nursing team, digital transformation officers, patient management personnel, and a biomedical engineer.

The unit features 12 beds, each equipped with its own monitor, 14 infusion pumps, a device for preparing chemotherapy treatments, and a solution mixing device. The facility also includes a pharmacy and a modern medical records room. The unit operates five days a week, from Sunday to Thursday, between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.

Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that the expansion of specialized healthcare services in the Canal Region reflects the Egypt Healthcare Authority's commitment to enhancing healthcare services. He reiterated that achieving the highest standards of quality and patient satisfaction remains the Authority's ultimate goal, accomplished through the continuous expansion of healthcare services and readiness of medical facilities.

He further stated that the opening of the oncology treatment unit at the Suez Medical Complex aligns with the Authority’s strategy to provide comprehensive and integrated medical services across all governorates under the Universal Health Insurance system. This initiative aims to elevate the standard of healthcare, ease the burden on patients, and contribute to sustainable health development in Egypt.
