The Egypt Healthcare Authority has announced the success of the first aortic aneurysm surgery using a covered stent with the EVAR technique for an elderly woman at Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital, which is part of the Egypt Healthcare Authority in South Sinai.
According to the statement from the Authority, the patient arrived at Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital, and after reviewing the case, it was discovered that she had an aortic aneurysm. The case was referred to the Vascular Surgery Department, where it was found that the risk of the artery bursting was over 80%. Following the treatment protocols, the medical team recommended performing an EVAR procedure to repair the aneurysm.
The procedure was successfully completed without any complications by a team of top consultants at Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital, including Dr. Ahmed Riyad and Dr. Sherif Hussein, Vascular Surgery Consultants at the hospital, with the support of the anesthesia team led by Dr. Ismail Abdel-Gawad, Anesthesia Consultant, and the excellent nursing team at Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital.
