Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, conducted a surprise night inspection tour of the healthcare facilities operated by the Healthcare Authority in Suez, one of the first-phase governorates implementing the Universal Health Insurance System. The visit aimed to monitor operational efficiency and ensure the highest quality healthcare services for patients.
During the tour, Dr. El-Sobky inspected Dar Seha Al-Mar’a Wal-Tifl Hospital, evaluating its emergency department, intensive care units, inpatient wards, and neonatal units. He engaged with patients and staff to assess service quality and identify areas for improvement, reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to addressing patient needs and ensuring the highest standards of care.
As part of the expansion of specialized medical services, Dr. El-Sobky announced the establishment of a Pediatric Dialysis Unit at the hospital, which aims to provide comprehensive care for children suffering from kidney failure. Additionally, he reviewed the progress of the hospital’s Blood Bank facility, emphasizing the importance of ensuring adequate blood supply for emergencies and surgical procedures.
Dr. El-Sobky inspected the implementation of the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system, stressing the urgent need for full digital transformation and the elimination of paper-based documentation. He highlighted that digitization enhances service efficiency, improves patient care, and supports the Authority’s long-term goal of comprehensive digital healthcare transformation.
The Chairman also visited Suez Medical Complex, where he evaluated the Emergency Department’s readiness and service quality. He emphasized the critical need for 24/7 preparedness of medical teams to ensure the prompt and efficient handling of emergency cases.
His tour included inspections of the pediatric emergency department, obstetrics and gynecology emergency, internal medicine and pediatric observation rooms, surgical departments, intensive and semi-intensive care units, operating rooms, and neonatal units, all aimed at ensuring optimal patient care delivery.
Dr. El-Sobky highlighted the substantial progress made in Suez’s healthcare services, reporting that over 1.5 million medical and treatment services have been provided across the governorate’s healthcare facilities, including more than 700,000 services at Suez Medical Complex. He noted that these achievements reflect the successful implementation of quality and accreditation standards within the Authority’s healthcare institutions.
Concluding the inspection, Dr. El-Sobky reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to ongoing field monitoring to ensure the delivery of world-class healthcare services to Egyptian citizens. He emphasized that the Healthcare Authority will continue enhancing medical infrastructure, improving service efficiency, and expanding specialized medical units to meet the evolving needs of beneficiaries under the Universal Health Insurance System.
