Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobki, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, received Ambassador Suresh Ki Reddy, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Cairo, to discuss ways of joint cooperation in the fields of universal health coverage, e-health, clinical research, and a number of other strategic axes.
During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky stressed that the strong and well-established relations between the political leadership in Egypt and India have created a supportive climate to enhance cooperation in various fields of health care, noting that Egypt represents Asia's gateway to African markets thanks to its strategic location and pioneering role on the continent.
Al-Sobki added that the Authority aims to localize robotic surgery technologies and smart primary care models within its health facilities through partnerships with major Indian health institutions, most notably Apollo Hospitals and Aster Group, which contribute to transferring modern technology and developing the quality of services provided to citizens.
For his part, Ambassador Suresh Ki Reddy stressed that Egypt represents an important regional center for expansion in Africa in the fields of health and medical technology. The ambassador invited the Egyptian side to visit India to learn about India's pioneering experience in achieving universal health coverage, stressing that his country seeks to build a long-term partnership with the Authority to exchange successful models, enhance the efficiency of health services, and open new horizons for emerging markets.
Reddy pointed out that the Egyptian market is promising to attract more Indian companies specialized in technology and healthcare, especially with the rapid development witnessed in relations between the two countries and the existence of great potential for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of health and technological innovation.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hani Rashed, Vice President of the Authority; Dr. Magdy Bakr, Advisor to the President of the Authority for Technical Affairs; Dr. Ahmed Hammad, Advisor to the President of the Authority for Health Policies and Systems and Director of the General Administration of Strategic Management; Dr. Reham El-Shennawy, Director of the Department of Communication and International Cooperation; and Dr. Nada El-Shishtawy, International Cooperation Officer.
