Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, and Engineer Abdel Muttalib Amara, Governor of Luxor, accompanied by Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Health Care Authority, conducted an extensive tour to inspect a number of facilities affiliated with the Health Care Authority in Luxor Governorate, with the aim of reviewing the latest developments and achievements achieved under the umbrella of comprehensive health insurance in the governorate.
Today's inspection tour included the opening of the rotation building, the emergency hospital, and a number of different departments in the Luxor International Medical Complex, most notably the care, nursery, and internal departments in the rotation building, in addition to inspecting a number of new departments that were added to raise the efficiency of the services provided and enhance the complex's capacity, in addition to inspecting the Awamiya Family Medicine Center.
The Minister, accompanied by the Chairman of the Health Care Authority and the Governor of Luxor, visited the Awamiya Family Health Center in Luxor, where they toured family medicine clinics, dental clinics, vaccination clinics, counseling rooms, and presidential initiative services. During the tour, the volume of services provided was reviewed, as the number of primary care services provided through the center exceeded 332,000 medical services for 50,000 beneficiaries.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar praised the level of medical service provided within the facilities of the Luxor Health Care Authority under the umbrella of comprehensive health insurance, stressing the political leadership's interest in the comprehensive development of Upper Egypt governorates, adding: «We pay special attention to the people of Upper Egypt, and are keen for them to obtain integrated medical services according to the highest quality standards within their governorates».
For his part, Eng. Abdel Muttalib Amara, Governor of Luxor, stressed that the efforts made in the health sector in general, and the comprehensive health insurance project in particular, had a great impact on improving the medical sector in the governorate, noting that the state's contributions to this file are very huge, as giant medical edifices were established at a cost of billions of pounds to improve the quality of health services provided to citizens, thus providing a distinguished medical service to the people of Upper Egypt in general And the people of Luxor in particular, as it is the first governorate in Upper Egypt to implement the comprehensive health insurance system.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky confirmed that the facilities of the Luxor Health Care Authority have so far succeeded in providing more than 26 million medical and therapeutic services through 60 health facilities in the governorate, including 6 hospitals, 11 medical centers and 43 health units, expressing his pride in the 100% accreditation of the Authority's facilities in Luxor, in accordance with the various degrees of accreditation from the internationally recognized GAHAR national standards.
Al-Sabki added that Luxor International Medical Complex represents an icon of the health system in Luxor, as the cost of developing, equipping and operating it has exceeded one billion pounds so far, pointing to the addition of many new medical services, most notably oncology treatment services and a specialized unit for treating burns, which ensures the provision of integrated and advanced medical services to the people of Luxor and the residents of Upper Egypt.
