The head of the Egypt HealthCare Authority receives the Japanese ambassador to the Ismailia Medical Complex

The chairman of the Egypt HealthCare Authority receives the Japanese Ambassador to Ismailia Medical Complex and launches the "E‑PaCC" patient-centered care project in partnership with JICA until 2027.


• Chairman of the Egypt HealthCare Authority: Announces the twinning between Ismailia Medical Complex and Nagoya Hospital in Japan as the first experiment to unify medical, administrative, and research work systems between Egypt and Japan in the health care sector.
• The chairman of the Health Care Authority appreciates the role of the Japanese JICA Agency in providing support in the comprehensive health insurance project. He announces an upcoming cooperation in artificial intelligence applications with the Japanese side.

Today, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Care, will receive Mr. Iwai Fumio, Ambassador of Japan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, at the Ismailia MedicalComplex  on an official visit that comes within the framework of activating the Egyptian-Japanese cooperation project "Patient-Centered Health Care to Achieve Universal Health Coverage (E‑PaCC)", which is implemented in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and in the presence of Mr. Yu Ibisawa, the main representative of JICA in Egypt.


During the meeting, the chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and the Japanese Ambassador launched the "Patient-Centered Care to Achieve Universal Health Coverage—E‑PaCC" project, which extends until 2027, stressing that the project represents a qualitative shift in healthcare delivery models in Egypt and contributes to consolidating the concept of pivotal care that revolves around the patient's needs through effective measurement tools and modern digital applications in cooperation with the Japanese side.


Thechairmann of the General Authority for Health Care announced the twinning between Ismailia Medical Complex and Nagoya Hospital inJapan  as the first experiment of its kind to unify the medical,administrative,e and research systems between the two countries in the health care sector, which contributes to exchanging expertise and enhancing the technical,medical,l and administrative capabilities of theauthorityy's cadres, in line with the best international standards.


Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky appreciated the pioneering role played by JICA in supporting the comprehensive health insurance system in Egypt, stressing that the tangible achievements achieved on the ground are the result of this constructive cooperation, pointing to an expected cooperation with the Japanese side in the fields of artificial intelligence and its applications in healthcare  to employ modern technologies in supporting medical decisions and improving the efficiency of services provided.


Thechairmann of theauthorityy also reviewed the achievements made within the Ismailia Medical Complex, noting that more than 5.5 million medical services were provided over 4 years, including more than 1.3 million services in outpatient clinics, 760,000 emergency services, 100,000 services in internal departments, 11,000 in intensive care for children and adults, 75,000 operations and surgeries, and 3,300 services in nurseries.


He stressed that the complex is one of the largest medical institutions affiliated with the Authority, and it has obtained national accreditation from the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control (GAHAR), international JCI quality accreditation,and accreditation of ISO global administrative quality systems, which enhances its position as a reference health institution at the national and international levels.


For his part, Mr. Iwai Fumio, Japanese Ambassador to Egypt, expressed his happiness with the advanced level of health services provided at the Ismailia Medical Complex, noting that cooperation with the Health Care Authority reflects a successful model of development partnership, and stressed that the development achieved in Egypt in providing medical services with international quality is a source of pride.
The Japanese ambassador added that the integration he witnessed in the digital transformation systems of the Healthcare Authority exceeds what exists in many advanced health systems, stressing that the health sector in Egypt now possesses the components that qualify it to enter strongly into the era of artificial intelligence, which opens broad horizons for fruitful cooperation in this field between Egypt and Japan.
Mr. Yu Ibisawa, the main representative of JICA in Egypt, also confirmed the amazing results achieved by the agency's projects with the Health Care Authority on the ground, which pushes us to furtherdevelopt partnerships with Egypt, not only in the health sector but in other areas of the government sectors, based on the agency's confidence in the seriousness of the Egyptian state and its leadership in implementing development projects with a sustainable impact.
