Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, conducted an inspection tour of several healthcare facilities in South Sinai, one of the first provinces to implement the Universal Health Insurance System.
This tour is part of Dr. El-Sobky’s continuous field monitoring to ensure the efficiency of the system and the quality of healthcare services offered in the healthcare facilities across the province.
The tour included a visit to Ras Sedr Specialized Hospital, where Dr. El-Sobky visited various departments, including emergency, outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, intensive care units, nurseries, radiology, laboratories, operating rooms, dialysis, pharmacy, dental care, and physical therapy. He assessed the operations in each department and received feedback from patients regarding the level of care.
Dr. El-Sobky also held a meeting with the leadership team of the South Sinai branch of the Authority, the management of Ras Sedr Specialized Hospital, and the medical and administrative staff. He extended his gratitude and appreciation to the team that saved the lives of 42 foreign tourists following a road accident on the Ras Sedr-Tor road. He praised their efforts in handling emergency cases and crisis management, highlighting the advancements in clinical services and the provision of high-quality healthcare for patients.
Dr. El-Sobky pointed out that healthcare facilities in South Sinai have become an essential part of supporting the tourism sector in the province. Russian tourists who had recovered expressed their gratitude for the care they received at Ras Sedr Hospital, specifically noting the availability of Russian-speaking doctors, which significantly facilitated communication.
Additionally, Dr. El-Sobky visited Ras Sedr Family Medicine Center and the Family Medicine Units in Ras Masalah and Abu Soira. He reviewed various clinics, comprehensive examination services, specialty clinics, pharmacies, primary emergency services, and laboratories. Dr. El-Sobky also gathered patient feedback and suggestions from the medical and administrative teams.
Dr. El-Sobky emphasized the importance of improving primary healthcare services in these areas, citing over 30,000 services provided at Ras Sedr Family Medicine Center, 15,000 services at Ras Masalah Unit, and 35,000 services at Abu Soira Unit.
Dr. El-Sobky decided to grant exceptional bonuses to the Russian-speaking medical staff at Ras Sedr Hospital for their professional handling of the injured and their contribution to the effective treatment of patients. He also awarded encouraging bonuses to the emergency department staff and some outstanding medical staff in the healthcare units that were visited.
Concluding his visit, Dr. El-Sobky confirmed that Egypt Healthcare Authority will continue developing healthcare services in all provinces under the Universal Health Insurance System, ensuring that high-quality services are provided to all beneficiaries, in alignment with Egypt’s 2030 strategy to improve the healthcare sector.
Dr. El-Sobky was accompanied by several senior officials from the Authority, the director of the South Sinai branch, and managers of the visited healthcare facilities.
